GCO’s yesUChampion Empowers UCians Through Peer Monitoring

Recognizing the growing need for personalized academic support, UC Guidance and Counseling Office launched yesUChampion (Coaching/Mentoring to Help Attain Maximum Performance in Overall Needs) held starting A.Y. 2022-2023, this has been an annual activity every trimester from midterms to finals. This initiative is designed to help students overcome academic challenges, encourage independent learning, and boost overall performance through peer tutoring and mentoring across all degree programs and year levels.

Volunteer tutors dedicate their time to assist fellow students which developed a supportive and relatable learning environment due to their close age proximity. Sessions are overseen by UC Peer Facilitators to ensure their effectiveness, with a focus on bridging the gap between students’ potential and their academic achievements.

What sets Project C.H.A.M.P.I.O.N. apart is its emphasis on long-term academic growth. The program equips students with critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills, empowering them to become confident, independent learners capable of handling academic challenges. Held every trimester, the program has not only improved students’ academic performance but also cultivated essential life skills like time management.
