THROWBACK TO THE ‘80s THIS MONTH OF LOVE! The UC-Peer Facilitators joins in on the celebration of Love Month

Baguio City, Philippines In a vibrant celebration of Love Month, the UC Peer Facilitators hosted a two-part event that embraced love in all its forms, emphasizing connection, self-expression, and emotional well-being. Alongside this, the University Student Council held a separate campus-wide celebration, with the Peer Facilitators participating in the festivities. Through these events, the Peer Facilitators created a unique space for students to reflect on the many facets of love, strengthening both personal connections and their sense of community within the university.

The exclusive two-day event, held on February 10-11 at Room U401, served as a creative and interactive sanctuary where students could engage in meaningful activities centered on affection, friendships, and self-discovery. The event’s theme, “Embracing the Depths of Affection: A Heartfelt Celebration of Love Beyond Romance,” set the tone for a series of engaging stations—each designed to capture the essence of love in its various forms. Artistic expression took center stage at the Art-to-Heart station, where participants created custom mementos from clay, while a retro-inspired Love Jukebox offered playful answers to relationship queries through timeless ’80s tunes. The event’s “Love is Blind” station brought a whimsical twist to matchmaking, encouraging students to exchange anonymous love notes, while “Talk-That-Talk” invited deeper conversations about relationships and self-love.

On February 14, the Peer Facilitators seamlessly joined the University Student Council’s campus-wide celebration at the UC Gymnasium. With space constraints limiting large-scale activities, they pivoted to a more interactive approach, offering chocolates and continuing to engage students in select activities from their earlier event, such as Love Jukebox and Ping Pong Shooting.

What began as a celebration of love transformed into a heartfelt exploration of human connection—an opportunity for students to rediscover affection in its many forms, from the warmth of friendship to the nurturing of self-compassion.
