UC Celebrates Guidance Month with “Talaghay: Healing Begins…”

The UC Guidance and Wellness Center celebrated the Guidance Month this May a month-long event titled “Talaghay: Healing Begins…”. The program aimed to promote mental wellness by offering students a variety of activities designed to express themselves.

Students participated in activities like the Yellow Corner, a special space inside the Guidance office where they could relax, play games, or reflect. To capture the moment, the Snap-a-thon encouraged students to join in by having their photo taken with photo frame and fun props facilitated by the UC Peer Facilitators, turning ordinary moments into a memorable one. Meanwhile, the Swap Party allowed students to exchange items like books, shoes, school supplies and clothes, encouraging generosity and kindness. To showcase their Knot-In the Mood, a bracelet-making activity, gave students a creative way to express their emotions. To wrap up the week with some fun, GUI-JAMS offered a Friday karaoke session, created a lighthearted space for singing and bonding.

These events were designed to help students take a break from academic pressure and experience healing in small but meaningful ways. As the event ended, it left a powerful reminder healing doesn’t always require big steps It can begin with simple acts like resting, laughing, and leaning on the support of others. The UC Guidance and Wellness Center shared that the goal was not only to raise awareness of mental health, but to provide safe spaces where students could feel supported and connected.
