In celebration of Guidance Month, the University of the Cordilleras Peer Facilitators (UCPF) under the Guidance Services and Wellness Center launched a month-long mental health initiative titled “Alohomora: Unlocking the Healing Within” from May 6 to 31, 2025. Inspired by the magic of the Harry Potter universe, the project symbolized emotional resilience and self-discovery, promoting mental health awareness and healing within the UC community.
The initiative opened with a two-day booth at U401 on May 6–7, featuring interactive and therapeutic activities such as the Mood Meter, Clay Molding, a Memory Game Wall, Reflective Jenga, and a Poetry Corner. Students were encouraged to reflect, express, and connect with the support services of the Guidance and Counseling Office (GCO), with one highlight being the anonymous sharing of personal healing stories.

A second run of the booth was held at the GCO Hallway and Yellow Corner from May 15–17, offering the same activities in a more relaxed setting. These sessions allowed more students to participate and served as a bridge to the culminating seminar.
The project concluded on May 30 with a seminar titled “A Journey to Resilience and Reclaiming Your Peace in College Life,” held at the UC Auditorium. The session tackled challenges like stress, burnout, and anxiety while offering practical strategies for building resilience. Real student stories and discussions on counseling helped break down stigma and encouraged help-seeking behaviors.

Throughout the month, Alohomora provided safe spaces for reflection, expression, and connection. With a dedicated team and a modest budget, UCPF successfully created a meaningful experience that fostered empathy, openness, and mental health awareness among students. The initiative left a lasting impact and reminded everyone that healing begins with the courage to take the first step.
