The Guidance and Counseling Office, under the Student Affairs Services, develops, implements, and supervises programs and activities intended to serve the well-being and ensure the overall welfare of students. It provides a set of services using an integrated approach that aims to develop integrated individuals who are empowered to give meaning and direction to their own lives and become productive members of society through: heightening awareness of oneself and others; developing confidence in assuming responsibility for his or her personal concerns; and promoting social involvement.

Services
Counseling Service
Interventions designed to facilitate positive change and substantial empowerment among students’ behavior, feelings, attitudes and career decision making. Counseling sessions are conducted individually or by group through online platforms and/or face-to-face set-up.
The Office employs the use of both online and offline communication channels for appointment systems and the conduct of counseling sessions.

Testing Service
Psychological tests are administered to assess students’ abilities, aptitudes, achievements, interests, intellectual capabilities and to gain better self-understanding. Testing is conducted individually or by groups through face-to-face set-up or online platforms.
Individual Inventory
Gathering extensive information and safekeeping of documents about students for proper understanding, decision-making, and appropriate placement.
Information Service
Gathering relevant and valuable information to make it available to students for their personal, social, emotional, and academic development and adjustment. This is implemented through the conduct of seminars/webinars, crafting of brochures, and sharing of video clips and infographics via GCO official Facebook page and Canvas course.
The office utilizes the use of the University’s Canvas Learning Management System and Facebook application as mediums for information dissemination through the following platforms.

Monitoring, Follow-up and Placement Service
Monitoring of academic performance of referred students every midterm of each term which will then be sent to the parents or guardians though email or post mail.
Contacting and monitoring of students most especially previous clients, referred students and transferees through online platforms to follow-up on their status.
Referral Service
Coordination with multidisciplinary team of specialists to ensure that special needs of students are met. A list of linkages is accessible and ready for forwarding to clients who seek further expertise.
Research and Evaluation
Gathering, treatment, and analysis of data to determine the effectiveness of the guidance activities, services, as well as customer satisfaction.
Career Guidance
Assist the Career Development Center (CDC) and the Marketing, Communications, and Enrollment Services (MCES) in providing and implementing programs and services focused on vocational and occupational fitness and employment. This includes networking with schools, communities, alumni, professional organizations, and industries.
Peer Facilitation Program
The UC Peer Facilitators Organization is a transformative program and accredited organization which serves as an extension arm of the Guidance and Counseling Office. Peer facilitators are skilled, trained and supervised students who aid in the implementation of guidance services. Moreover, Peer Facilitators conduct and facilitate psycho-educational activities to fellow students and refer those in need of professional mental assistance to the office.
The UC Peer Facilitators Organization utilizes Facebook application and the University’s Canvas Learning Management System in conducting and facilitating activities.
